Ladies and gentlemen, here comes “The Torment Trees”, a short-film by Harvey McDonald. “The Torment Trees” is a 5-minute clip based on a popular Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale, starring Harvey McDonald, Jessica Jayne Harney and the voice of Rachel Eben. Some curiosities: it has been inspired by a scene from James Cameron’s Avatar and captures the audience' s attention thanks to a cliff hanger ending. (Italian Version) Esercizio VS Talentonaturale: un’eterna disputa artistica Q ualcuno afferma che qualsiasi arte scaturisce da un talento naturale. In altre parole, se non hai un capacità innata non c’è modo di ottenere un risultato artistico significativo, nemmeno attraverso un duro lavoro, con sforzi ed esercizio. D all’altro lato, c’è chi pensa che con la pratica puoi migliorare le tue doti artistiche, compensando la carenza di talento naturale con la tenacia e la passione. L a questione non può essere risolta semplicemente in termini di bianco o nero: il talento naturale non esclude la pratica e viceversa; ci sono vari aspetti che devono essere tenuti in considerazione. C ome non ricordare ciò che Julie Andrews risponde all’affermazione “Deve venire naturale” in una scena memorabile del film Victor/Victoria? “Al contrario di quanto pensa.. ci sono professioni dove la pratica può far raggiungere la perfezione”. Cosa ne pensate?

Practice   VS   Natural talent : an eternal artistic dispute S omeone asserts that any art only springs from a natural talent. In other words, if you haven’t an innate ability there is no way for you to achieve a considerable artistic result, not even by hard work. O n the other hand, somebody else thinks that by practicing you can improve your artistic skills, making up for natural talent lack with your tenacity and passion. T he issue isn’t simply black or white: natural talent doesn’t exclude practice and vice-versa; there are several aspects which must be taken into consideration. H ow not to remember what Julie Andrews replies to the statement “It has to come naturally” in a memorable scene of Victor/Victoria movie? “In spite of what you think... there are some professions where practice does make perfect.” What do you think about it?
